Game of designs

Ah, the game of design. What to do, what to do. We design according to a clients standards, but are they always the accurate way? What if what the client wants doesn’t work. What if it could potential detract business? Sometimes we have to play the game we go for what the client wants against our better judgement. What can we do to offset this? We have a few options for sure. We can give them the cookie cutter design, we can create a few custom palettes and let them choose the one that works for them, or create something amazing and let UX come into play. We can conduct quick studies with each design and let actual people choose. Sometimes the one we want might not be what people respond to, at the least we have information backing up what ever decision we choose to go forth. If after all that the client still doesn’t like it, well then just give them the cookie cutter.

Recently I have decided to start free lancing as it appears I will be broke and homeless before I get a job. (Great). Ah the proverbial dilemma. I am not opposed to it just the way these sites want you to customize is kinda pointless. I already have a portfolio why do I now need to take specialized pictures and upload them and give you a briefing. Is it so hard to actually just look at my portfolio? It’s practically why I made it. On the other side there is no update on anything from flatiron, no job placements, no leads, no help. What does 15k buy you in this day and age? Apparently nothing. If time travel existed I would go back and slap myself until I picked a place that actually gave a shit. (Like Lambda School) Seriously just cut me from the contract already. I hope this helps anyone trying to decide who to choose for a bootcamp. Most just want your money and offer no services and not even a well rounded curriculum. I am hoping I can get enough income from freelancing to stay afloat but the fates are against me. A govt. that lets its people starve, and a for profit school that doesn’t acknowledge the hardships we as students are facing. They post the lucky ones that were able to get a job, they boast a 90% rate of students getting hired but in my cohort that number is more like 30%.

Anyways vent done. blog done for today. Me go away.

bye.
